I believe that at the heart of wellness is awareness and the need for strong foundations for long lasting health and wellbeing. My method is intended for adults to feel stronger and empowered to make better choices. Every individual is different so the work we do may differ but at the bottom of it all is what I like to call Mindful strength and conditioning. The foundations of which are posture, breath and technique.
As a working parent /guardian, it can be hard to take good care of yourself. We’re busy, tired and frazzled. We’ve got used to everyone and everything clamouring for our attention all the time. How can we possibly make space for something as self-indulgent as self-improvement?
But here’s the rub. We have to make that space, for the same reason we have to put our own oxygen mask on first. Because if we want to give the best of ourselves to the people and things that matter most to us, first we need to create that best self.
So, what is the best you? Ultimately it’s your call and you probably already have some goals in mind. What I can promise you is that if we do work together, it will be in pursuit of a stronger, fitter, healthier you on every level – physically, mentally and emotionally.
As a personal trainer and yoga instructor I have developed my own style of training based on the techniques identified by Paul Chek and the late Charles Poliquin, these techniques granted can be at odds with each other, one is a hard and fast body transformation based around heavy lifting and supplements and the other is about understanding the idiosyncrasies of your own body and working the kinks out gently and systematically. I understand both of these and I will make a call when we meet which technique would work best for you.
I am trained in the Kriya and Sivananda yoga techniques, which again have slightly differing approaches for the same thing. With Sivananda at it’s most condensed level the emphasis is controlling the nervous system deeply understanding your body as it holds each posture working from the inversions to standing. With Kriya yoga the breath, affirmation and flow is key. Both use guided nidra work to relax and body and allow you to work deeper.
We will have a programme but as with life, what we do on the day will depend on what you bring and this is not a failing. This is not an interruption. This is adaptation. Remember it’s not survival of the fittest, it’s survival of the most adaptable, which means finding space to allow change and being in the here and now.
The hours you spend with me every week are yours and I will help you get the most out of it in a progressive, understanding and reassuring way. All you have to do is show up as you are and after that time you have given yourself – and sometimes you require guided relaxation and lymphatic drainage – you will feel the difference and as this time you give yourself accrues you learn the importance of it’s allocation and know how to do it for yourself.
